0108 Pot O' Gold
Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation, SD

The wild horses depicted in this limited edition photograph are part of the Gila herd, originally from an area near Gila Bend, Arizona. Based on DNA testing and historical evidence, they are most likely the last original descendents of those horses left behind by the Spaniards as they marched through Arizona in the 1500’s. Unlike other wild horses, those belonging to the Gila herd sport faint, zebra-like stripes on their knees and hocks, along with black manes, tails, and dorsal stripes.

Edition of 500
