0003 Mountain Reflections
Waterton Lakes National Park, Alberta

It had rained for several days prior to my arrival in Canada’s Waterton Lakes National Park. A small, muddy watering hole in the Bison paddock had become transformed into a sizeable, reflecting pond showcasing the surrounding mountains and anything that might happen along. Off to one side and some distance away, a herd of bison was grazing.

As I stood there, I was already visualizing the image in my mind - bison and blue sky reflected in the glassy water, with spectacular mountain scenery as my backdrop. How I wished the bison would cooperate and move into position. In anticipation, I changed to my wide-angle lens and began talking to the bison . . . not out loud, but quietly in my spirit, urging them into position.

Did they hear me? Perhaps . . . perhaps not. Who knows? However, this I do know—within minutes they had moved into position, their likeness reflected in the lake just as I had envisioned.

Nature once again waved its magic wand.
