0106 The Spit
Homer, Alaska
Previous / Next
The "Spit", as it is referred to in the area, is a four and one-half mile long parcel of land jutting out into Alaska’s Kachemak Bay. It is uncertain how it formed. One theory suggests it was the result of glacial activity, while another speculates that it was formed from tidal swells and currents in Cook Inlet.
