0023 The Chase
Lake Clark National Park, Alaska		 Previous / Next
During one of many visits to Shelter Creek in Alaska’s Lake Clark National Park, I happened to be in the right place at the right time and was able to capture the brown bear depicted in this limited edition photograph as it splashed water to-and-fro in pursuit of a spawning salmon. Needless to say, the bear enjoyed fresh sushi for lunch.

In making the image, it was necessary to lie prone on a gravel bar next to the creek’s edge. Although my body sank into the gravel and become soaked, the adrenalin was flowing so strong that I do not remember any discomfort. What I do remember is the bear chasing the salmon less than 30-feet from where I lay.
