Falling snow can transform an ordinary scene into a magical wonderland where you expect the Wizard of Oz to appear at any moment. Take for example this limited edition photograph, made during one of many visits to the Chilkat Valley near the community of Haines. Perched before me on a log overhanging the river was one of Nature’s most elegant creatures, the stately Bald Eagle. Snow was falling, not heavy but enough to transform me into a reasonable facsimile of Frosty the Snowman in the short time it took to make the image.
